In an optimistic academic atmosphere marking the beginning of a new academic year, the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad hosted the conference for announcing the central admission results, during which the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Naim Al-Aboudi, announced the admission of 185,416 students across the central admission channels in Iraqi universities for the academic year 2025–2026.
In his speech, the Minister explained that admissions included the general channel, direct admission, and categories of martyrs’ families and elite students, in addition to ten other channels for special categories. He emphasized that the Ministry has given special attention to talented and outstanding students within the admission plan.
The Minister also noted that the minimum admission averages for the medical group were 99.57 for general medicine, 98.67 for dentistry, and 98.29 for pharmacy, adding that distinguished students have fully occupied their allocated 15% quota within this group.
Furthermore, the Minister directed all universities to begin registration procedures for admitted students, urging those who were not accepted or have high grades to follow the digital appeals portal launched by the Ministry to submit objections and review requests electronically.
This announcement reaffirms the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s commitment to expanding admission opportunities, ensuring transparency and fairness in the distribution of study seats, and supporting the aspirations of youth toward a promising academic future, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities).
